ls1/t56 swap Hawks headers question
ls1/t56 swap Hawks headers question
So I've got the long tubes with 3" collectors from Hawksthirdgen, a tubular k member and the motor and trans in my 92 rs. BUT the pass. side header is rubbing the frame rail at the collector. Drivers side fits fine. Has anyone else had trouble with these headers? I ran a string from the crank pulley past the tail shaft to the rear end and it appears to be lined up fine. So any idea's?
Also, anyone else use there AC swap line kit? If so post pics so I can see how they look.

I had two sets of those headers and they did not fit. I attached some pics, hitting in the same place?
I returned those and got the ones that are actually made by Stainless Works, they cost more but fit 100%, no interference at ALL, even with O2s. (I have a 4L60E to boot...)
I have the AC line kit, it fits okay but I don't have any pictures of it except for general engine bay pics. However, you have to use a different bolt on the AC compressor or the new line won't clear.

Return the copies and save up for the real Stainless Works headers. Like Chris said, the fit is 100%.

nop, only bare stainless, but you could always have them ceramic coated. look at fireballcoatings dot com. they even have a coating that looks like chrome.

Re: ls1/t56 swap Hawks headers question
I bought my headers through the group purchase awhile back and they were polished, haven't had any problems with fitment or anything. It's a good thing I didn't pay extra for them being polished, you wanna know how long they stayed shiney!? ...... they turned goldish brown within the first 5 minutes of my first start-up!

EXACT SPOT!! mines closer than that though even. How much are the stainless works? I didn't know anyone else made headers for this swap other than Hawks. And I may send the AC line kit back. it's made completely wrong, Yes they attach fine but, there way too long, And I noticed that you can't use that top back bolt in the bracket. Thanks for the replys guys! I'm glad I'm not the only one with this header problem.
Hawks sells both headers. The stainless works headers you can only buy through hawks actually, they are the ones that are raw finished, but they fit perfectly. The shiny ones are some lower-quality knockoffs that Hawks made to sell at a lower price. I think the copies are $600 and the Stainless Works headers are $800 for the 2.5" collectors.
I agree about the AC lines, they work but are way too long. One of the few things in my engine bay that looks stupid...
