Best? PM TGO member Dyno Don, tell him what you're doing.

Most affordable? A set with matching y-pipe that is at least 1-5/8" primary, assuming you're talking about shorties. Most anything you get that's below $400 will need some sort of modification. If you want or would be interested in dual cats, the Hedman emissions-legal set for dual cats is pretty decent.

Can you weld? You might consider welding around the tubes on the outsides of the flanges to fill in the gaps around the tubes, then port matching the flanges on the head side.

Cool, What if i dont go with an lt1 though, im also considering a carbed 350, will headders with a 1-5/8" primary still work... also if i switch over to a carbed engine I wont have to worry about o2 sensor ports or will I?

Re: Whats the best lt1 headder

Do yourself a favor and go with 1 3/4 headers. There's no reason to limit your header size, within reason of course.

Re: Whats the best lt1 headder

1 3/4 headers are a waste on an LT1, the stepping to the larger tube size has shown to actually rob power and the LT1s love the 1 5/8 tube for some reason.

I would like to see how more flow hurts power?

Re: Whats the best lt1 headder

It's the way the exhaust exits out of the head and has to deal with the step which causes some swirling in the header.

Back to my question though what header should I use for a carbed 350, not an Lt1. Also will I have to worry about O2 sensors?
