LS1 + T-56 Swap

I have a 1990 Iroc-Z with a 5.0L TPI with a 700r4 Automatic Transmission. I recently purchased a LS1 wit a T-56 transmission.

I already installed a 3:42 limited slip w/ Disc, Aluminum Drive Shaft, and Torque Arm from a 2002 Camaro SS.

The LS1 w/6speed is out of a 2001 Camaro SS. Along with the complete engine and trans came the trans mount, trans cross member, stock exhaust manifolds w/ Cats, and wiring harness. I bought the LS1 swap Conversion motor mount adapter kit from Trans A Dapt.

I'm wondering will the trans cross member of the LS1 be a direct replacement of the stock trans mount I currently have of the 700r4 Auto.
Also, what parts do I need to change over from Atuomatic to Manual.

I'm trying to get together a parts list of everything I need to complete the Swap. I dont mind doing any Fabrications but I dont want to do any parts chasing during the swap. I rather do all the parts chasing now before I get deep into the project.

The 4th gen transmission crossmember is worthless. Unbolt the tranny mount from it and toss the thing in the recycle bin. You will need a 3rd gen LS1 swap crossmember. Hawks has a decent offering now that allows for good exhaust routing. http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/tr...t566speed.aspx

How much of the engine/trans did you get? Harness? PCM? Fuse/relay box? Were you planning on using the LS1 exhaust manifolds, or getting headers? Custom exhaust from the manifolds or headers is still the best choice available.

If you haven't done so yet, read through the LS1 swap sticky in the top section of this forum.

Oh, California. Then that means the 4th gen fuel tank/evap system as well. The fuel level sender becomes an issue, because the 3rd gen is a simple analog signal, while 4th gen uses the level for evap function, and serial data for the fuel gauge. Most people that need the evap system for emissions purposes go ahead and swap in the 4th gen dash as well.

I don't recall off the top of my head if the cats will clear everything in the 3rd gen engine bay without modification. Certainly they can be made to fit.

The TransADapt mounts only work if you don't use the 4th gen AC compressor. They will work the the Kwik AC brackets which are made for a Sanden compressor. That's what I'm planning for my upcoming Berlinetta #1 LS1/4L60E swap. If you plan on deleting AC, then no problem - remove the compressor & tension mechanism, put on the adapter mounts, mount the clamshells, and go.
