PT88 Blow Though vs. EFI
Getting the bug again...this time with some boost. None of this will be going in the iroc, i've got some good leads on v6 4th gen rollers for around 1000. Plan is to strip the interior just leaving dash and driver seat, and get rid of anything not needed.
So i've been spending lots of time after work on the net researching everything turbo related. Spent tons of hours reading threads on theturboforums and ls1tech. It seems like the most common turbo for 364-370" motors is the pt88. Spendy, but upgradeble to 91 i believe. I'm contacting some turbo dealers on what cheaper alternatives are out there.
For the induction I've decided to "price out" a carb, carb style fuel injection, and ls1 type fuel injection.
Keep in mind this is figuring i'll buy another low mile lq4 and keep the bottom end stock other than oil pump, cam, chain, katech bolts and arp studs. I already got the harness and coils, and stuff like accesories and oil pan i'll need regardless what i go with.
Blow Through Carb:
A1000 pump $400
A1000 reg 132-02 $180
2 Filters ~$200
AN Fittings and Hose ~$300
Extreme Velocity Pro hat $250
CSU 750 or 850 Carb $1000-$1200
Cathedral Super Vic $445
MSD 6010 $310
Total: $3285
Carb Style Injected:
A1000 $400
A1000-6 Reg $190
2 Filters ~$200
An Fittings and Hose ~$300
Extreme Velocity Pro HAt $250
Fast 4150 Throttle body $530
Cathedral Super Vic Injected $400
Rails $90
Injectors $500
Tuning Software $300
Total: $3160
LS1 Style Injection
A1000 $400
A1000-6 Reg $190
2 Filters ~$200
An Fittings and Hose ~$300
Fast 90 $800
NW 90 $300
Injectors $500
Rails $90
Tuning Software $300
Total: $3080
As you can see the ls1 style proves to be the cheapest (although we all know in reality i'll be adding $1k+ to any of these combos).
This is all just planning, but when i write it down i keep thinking about it and it should turn into reality...i might as well build what i want while i have the money!
Let's hear your thoughts on anything i've wrote tonight
