Fresh rebuild ready to start
Fresh rebuild ready to start
Just rebuilt my Lt1. I started cranking to see if she would start today and Im getting a lot of backfiring and popping but no start. I am guessing its a valve adjustment issue. It seems very close to starting but never really hits. I am just looking for advise before I start ripping things apart again. Can anyone tell me a easier way for setting the valves than the way the hanes manual says. I am in dire need of having this thing running by Monday so if you live near elwood Indiana and wanna come lend a hand to fellow third gen lover I could sure use it! Email me and I will send you my phone number and address. I would supply beer for the day!!!!

Re: Fresh rebuild ready to start
So I backed the valves off about a quarter turn, Then I made a boot for the MAF sensor. I didnt have the maf connected or on before. I turned the key and she started before I realized it even happened!!! I killed it immediately since I dont have water pump set up yet or anything. I had to know it wasnt a fluke though so I hit the key and she fired up again immediately!! I am so thrilled I wanna scream! I bet the neighbors are PO'ed though. Its 1am here and all the exhaust I have is headers! She sounds like a drag car!
