Lt1 oil pump

Can anyone tell me if a lt1 oil pump is the same as a gen 1 small block. I'd like to install a high volume pump in my built lt1, but wasn't sure If it had to be a lt1 specific pump. I asked on ltxtech , but nobody replies over there.

Thanks

Dustin

Re: Lt1 oil pump

They appear the same, but that doesnt mean minor differences arent present. As cheap as they are why not get a replacement from a local parts store? $30 is cheap insurance for a long engine life

Re: Lt1 oil pump

I think mine was $30 for high volume at that for my LT1 unit. Get new...trust me you won't want to do it twice. If you are going new, and still asking about LT1s, it's not an improvement by any means to use the old style (if such exists), although I do believe that they are backwards compatable (and fowards in your situation).

Where did you get a high volume pump from for 30$$?

Local parts store

Remember, you want high volume, not high pressure

Re: Lt1 oil pump

What's the extra volume good for? Will the extra pressure hurt anything?

Re: Lt1 oil pump

If you buy a Melling, it will be M55-HV for the high volume, it's the same pump as a standard SBC. The M155-HV is the one with a 3/4 screen inlet, my LT1 had the standard 5/8
