Oil pan replacment
So i ordered a new LS1 oil pan from GM to replace my broken one. I'll document how I go about doing it here when it comes in. Any advice as far as doing it goes? Right now I'm planning to support the engine up and drop the k-member.

Dont pull the front springs unless you have to. They are a royal PITA, I did them a few days ago. Wrap a strap around the K and arms to keep them from opening and drop the unit as a whole
If you oil pump or pickup tube has ever been messed, with Id suggest pulling the pickup tube and inspecting the O-ring. May be fine, may be pinched and still showing good oil pressure. Mine was

Re: Oil pan replacment
so you can really just leave the k member assembled and drop the whole thing? would you just have to remove the 6 k member bolts and the motor mounts, and the steering shaft then? i might have to try that then. i'm kinda in the same situation, and i am dreading the oil pan swap. maybe it wouldn't be as bad then as i thought.

You have to be VERY VERY careful dropping the k-member with the springs and arms still attached. Ive never done it this way, but Ive been trying to figure out a safe way to do it. Either way, its a cumbersome task to leave it all attached just due to the weight of the struts and spindles and all.
If you can figure out a safe way to do it, dropping it all together would be a great way. I fyou have lowering springs, removing/replacing the springs is really easy. Stock springs...its a PITA as pocket said.
Whatever you do dont just remove the 6 k-member bolts. That would get ugly in a hurry. Also dont forget to remove your calipers, and keep them tied up a nd away.
You might have to disconnect the brake lines if they are routed in such a way that the k-member wants to snag on them. Depends on what all you have done to the car. I bent my brake lines so that they can stay up on the car with the k-member gone.

You guys have seen these pics...but this is how I do it.
