94 lt1 & T56 into 87 camaro
have a 94z28 and i want to put the motor and tranny into my 87 camaro, which is currently a carb'd 350 .080 over and an automatic. I've been doing a lot of research on this and other sites to get myself prepped to do this conversion.
As far as i know the engine should bolt in, and from what i can tell i'll have to cut out portions to fit the transmission in and the pedals. And probably have to get a different crossmember for the transmission???
I have the entire 94 minus radiator and battery - so computer and harness are all intact and planning on moving them over.
biggest questions right now are: FUEL PUMP - will it move from the 94 tank to the 87 tank? or would anyone suggest a simple way to convert to fuel injection fuel pump?
DASH - gauges and speedometer? was think of trying to completely modify and move over the dash/instrument cluster to the 87 to avoid some of the needed rewiring, but am very good at soldering and splicing and building connectors - so i'm not afraid to do necessary mods.
REAR END - been told the t56 will work with current differential - which is limited slip currently but i do have a posi carrier a can install OR will the 94's differential move over as well?
I'll stop there for now but am sure i will have more, and i am planning on documenting with photos ALL the steps i take in this conversion - so will plan to post them at some point during and after it is complete.
THANKS FOR ANY HELP, TIPS or LINKS you can offer
Chrissy

Re: 94 lt1 & T56 into 87 camaro
You could use the entire '94 rear axle, if you also use the '94 rear wheels. FYI, limited slip and posi are 2 different terms for the same end result. You would need to find and buy spacers if you wanted to use the '94 wheels on the front of the '87, but if the '87 doesn't have at least a 3.42:1 ratio gear in it's rear axle, then you might do best to just use the '94 axle. If money is tight, you'd be running mis-matched wheels, but that's only a cosmetic issue, nothing more.
If your '87 was built with the V6 or a TPI V8, you can just use the fuel pump that's in the '87. Otherwise, buy a new Walbro 255 pump, the '94 pump is probably too worn out to be worth swapping.
I don't have the answers to any of your other questions, sorry.

thanks for the answers you have provided, hoping to get as much info as possible BEFORE pulling everything out next weekend or weekend after, just so i DON"T get stuck in the middle and have to scramble for answers - i have to work outside cuz there is no room IN the garage LOL.
I do know the 87 has a mechanical fuel pump mounted on the engine - i built the one in it currently, it had a factory 305 with a quadra-jet

also i have found that my 87 wheels do fit onto the rear end of the 94 and the tire circumference is the same

True the wheels bolt up, but once you get the '94 axle under the '87, you'll notice that using the '87 wheels will cause the tires to stick out. If you encounter any surprise bumps, you'll cut the tires. This is because the '94 axle is wider.
