I seem to recall someone else having the same issue. This hose when trimmed still is a bigger diameter than the radiator and water pump. I took a section of correct diameter hose, put it on then installed the Gates hose. It was a tight fit but with the hose clamp it *might* hold.
That band aid should be ok for the initial start up, but what's the deal with this hose?

I'm using it even though it's huge. I have it fastened down pretty good with a hose clamp, haven't found any leaks yet.

Same problem here, I trimmed it and it was still huge so I clamped the shoot out of it.

What I may try IF mine ever slips off is put something around the outlet on the pump to make it closer to the diameter of the hose, like wrap a ton of electricaltape around it or something. But like I said, it doesn't leak a drop so I'm not worried about it at this point.

Well, that's pretty much what I did. The small section of hose I added makes the Gates hose a snug fit Originally Posted by BlueZee28

Same here. I think it all depends on how you trim it.Originally Posted by Pocket

Mine seemed to be the same diameter throughout after the reduction part was snipped off. Maybe they we got a defective batch lol.Originally Posted by 3.1EyeCandy

Maybe one of you guys with the lucky hoses can buy one at your own local parts store, trim it, and ship it to me. I'll pay you for it of course.
I actually have bought two of these things, the first one I returned when I got it to the garage and noticed how big it was, and I bought the 4.3L Vortec hose instead, then I decided what the heck I'll give it a try, and bought a second 21505 hose and it's exactly the same as the first one, both came from my local Napa store.

Got mine from advance auto, asked for a 90 F250 7.5L diesel lower. Maybe Gates is a different company than the one we got

Very odd. I'll have to check the R&S Strauss near me for giggles.Originally Posted by Pocket

I may just do that. Mine is disconnected right now anyway - would be a good time to cut one just like it. Might be a couple weeks before I get to it though Originally Posted by BlueZee28

I'm going to ask a quick question as your all about hoses right now...everyone agrees on the 95 3.4L upper hose correct?

My upper hose is whatever one was suggeted in the same thread as the 21505 lower hose. I actually think it's for an early 4th gen V6 car. I just flipped it around backwards and trimmed it a litle.
I did see this: 21505 Molded Coolant Hose; 1 3/4" x 2" x 22 11/16" What is the dia of the radiator/wp fitting?
Maybe you guys that are having it fit correctly are getting a horrible Chinese knock off that has fitment issues which work in our favor

Lower has 1.75" on both the rad and WP
I think ours was the cheap version of 1.75" hose that was formed and then flared right at the WP to 2". Cut the flare off and it's back to being 1.75" the whole way

I just clamped mine down good and have been beating it to 7100 RPM like nobodys business.
