LT1 or LS1 engine

What all would I have to do to put in an LT1 or LS1 engine into my camaro? I have an 86' iroc with the 305 tpi original engine. Would I need the computer and tranny as well or would my computer and tranny work?? Any advise is greatly apprecited. If you're wondering why I'm choosing these engines it's because it seems like I can find them used for a decent price on Craigslist where I'm at.

Moved this to the LTX and LSX Engine Swap subforum.

Check out the stickies on each type of engine in the top section of this forum.

Basically, using the computer, harness, sensors, and transmission that comes with either of those engines is what I would call the "best" route.

LS1 will cost more and is more involved mounting into a 3rd gen, but it can be argued produces superior final results.
