You got any pics of the car with those wheels and tires yet?

Did you piece that intake together yourself, or is it an intake for a different vehicle? I would love to have one of those for my car.
For the intake I got the peices from

1 - 90 elbow
1 - 45 elbow
2 silicone couplers
4 clamps
1 Airraid filter from summit
No pictures on the ground yet. Wheel adapters to make that happen should be here tommorrow (holiday today in canada)

Your fuel fitting on the rail is unsafe and may blow off without warning
Those compression hose ends are not rated for the high pressure of EFI

Next, unclip the harness from your fuel rails and move it to the base of the injectors. The engine will look alot cleaner

Good call on the fitting. I only had one of the smaller return line so that will be changed when I get the proper bigger one.
Made some decent progress and got it on the ground today.
World first 3rd with 5th gen wheels?

Subscribing to see how this turns out. I like the direction you have taken your build!

looks like you have almost no fender gap, I wonder if you will rub at all.

This build is amazing, I wish I had the money and knowledge to pull it off.

Man that is a lot of work you got yourself into but must say it's looking like one bad *** ride so far!
Thanks for the comments.. I wish there was enough of a marketplace to have a business that would focus on ls swaps and stuff like this in canada but it probably wouldn't do well.
I wish I woulda kept going too, its been +10 C lately and its friggin november.. I thru the towel in a couple weeks back when a sciff of snow hit us.
Then fender gap there was just a test and pretty low on the air settings with no swaybar installed yet either. I might have to trim the fenders at the lip if I want to slam it.
I also have to mull over what I want to do for gauges..my oil pressure and tach doesn't seem to want to work on the stock setup.. that in combination with the Ls1 tank means the fuel is gonna be out too.. im thinkin of going with a full autometer nexus gauge setup but they are crazy expensive but the only ones I like the looks of

The oil temp gauge you can make it work with the original oil pressure sending unit you had on the other motor, the temp gauge the same because they only work with earth basis and about the fuel cannot tell you but I saw swaps here with 4th gen tanks and never heard of any problems! and for the speedo install 89 and up speedo which is not cable driven and painless I think make a gadget to make the pulses work with each other from 4th gen to third gen!
I have a couple sending units including the 98 unit that is supposed to work with our gauges.. It ohms out when running but doesn't display anything on the gauge.
You can use the 4th gen tank with a grand prix sender or something like that similar. Theres also a resistor trick by changing a couple in the gauge with the 89 and lower series I have seen it done.
The tach was kinda responding, it moves. I have a dakota digital SGi-8 box that is supposed to convert the signal to work fine. It could be the tach or it could be something on the engine side as it won't go past 500rpm when I rev it on the tach. I don't have a scan tool to see if this ECM is pumping out the right kind of signal or something unreadable by that combination I am using. There is a MSD 9117 that will convert a single coil into the proper signal so it may be one of those as a cheap solution.
The speedo should techincally work with the t56 Vss output to this controller but theres no guarantee either.
Water temp works tho!
It could just be a matter of a new cluster as well.

How long is the air cleaner that you used and did you get the tight radius 90 degree bend?

Could always do an LS1 Cluster in a stock Dash, Another user did that, and made it look pretty decent, though I am more partial to just swapping out the 4th Gen Dash. Originally Posted by Ace

I looked at Autometer Gauges and I have to agree with you that the Nexus Gauges are really the only ones I really wanted, but for over 1k for the setup thats a tad too pricey for my current setup.
I've also seen one member who attached a stock third Gen Fuel sender to the side of his 4th Gen pump housing to get the third gen fuel level signal, pretty ingenious, but naturally the reliability factor is in question there.
My experience is the only thing that is an easy install from a 4th gen are the seats
I have seen the cluster install from the 4th gen in the 3rd gen, it doesn't look completely terrible but most are running the 4th gen harness and what not..
Bored with the emachine shop I would like something that would go over the original cluster and kick the main gauges out and angled a little. I didnt work in a hole for the top status lights but it might be do-able too.

Without the raised gauges it would be pretty cheap, also the price is only do-able once you get into a large quantity
I could make it a completely bolt in solution with tabs for the 90-92 that would put it similar where the lens would end up so it would be zero gaps.
Its hard to beat the classic dash setup and try and work the gauges into the 5" holes somehow.

I could hack out something with ABS/sheel metal/fiberglass but I would never get machine quality lines staring at the cluster all the time would probably **** me off.

updates?
300 bux later for a 0-90 ohm gas sensor and 4 pins for the brake pads.. gotta love GM parts
I decided on autometer carbon gauges as they look most like the stock 90-92 setup with the black and yellow so it should be a nice touch. Going to run a panel similar to the above rendering in the stock gauge panel.

Did you have to put wheel spacers to fit those wheels? Or are those stock mounted?

1.75" spacers on the front. Would need 2" in the back but I am running a 4th gen 12 bolt so just a tiny spacer to clear the hub.
Theres another thread in the wheel forum talkin more on that.
+1 today
start the melting!!

Decided to go with A/C and it's been a fun adventure trying to find the answers to fittings and lines. If anyone can confirm this please chime in, I can't find anything in the search that clearifies this.
I ordered a set of sanden brackets for the LS3 that will kick it out on the pass side up high. Haven't seen anyone run this in the thirdgen so gambling on the clearances.
For the lines im looking to find out the sizes.
Hard lines off the compressor that have the low and high r134 taps directly on the fittings which are #10 and #8
I got a short Hose (#10 probably) with a #10 fitting (3/4) off the compressor line to the Accumlator picture #2 (?? Dont know the size 8/10 or M?, ive found a link that said 3/4 but it looks bigger then that)
- #6 hose to the Evaporator line in picture #1 (still unsure on this size 6 or 8 or M?) to the bottom of the condensor which is -6AN female oring.. need a high pressure switch in there somewhere too
-#8 Hose to the -8AN Oring fitting off the Compressor to the top of the -8AN oring fitting on the top of the Condensor

Always sad to see a thirdgen get parted out, but the shell is going to live on. Made it home without issues, Thanks again Ace.

Wow, this thread took an unfortunate turn. But the shell lives on, what are the plans?

Engine can be seen in my sig. Drivetrain is a Fidanza aluminum flywheel, Spec stage 3+ clutch, TKO600 5 speed. For now im running a 7.5" 10 bolt built as tough as can be(still wont last haha) Racecraft chromoly tubular k member and a arms, tubular everything else, Koni yellows, Ground control weight jacks, 1LE's up front, Car is going to be painted Arctic white, and look Bone stock on the outside.
At least it went to a good home.
Look forward to the new build.

Sad to see it parted out, was a nice car! I got some of it's guts though

I built the new engine for it, then helped him part it out. Lots of his parts are living on in my car. Its kind of Ironic this is another silver 1990 IROC though haha. My 91 Z28 had lots of issues body wise and frame wise, this is way straighter than mine and hopefully will require less work.Originally Posted by Demon355

whyd you part it after everything
Glad you made it back.
I'm building a factory five GTM now. Wasn't 100% pleased with the iroc as it was coming together. Got most back in parts, still sitting on a bunch of stuff thou.
