HAWKS NEW BUILD " STORM TROOPER "
Re: HAWKS NEW BUILD " STORM TROOPER "
Wow that is way cool. Love the hood too. How is the durability of an ls7 block though for a forced induction motor though. I would so love a supercharged ls7 like that if I could ever afford to do something like that.

Just read the article in the new GMHTP. Awesome looking car Bruce! Now i'm having second thoughts on my 396 Super Ram build. Darn it, theres always something bigger and better out there! I might just have to send my car down to you aswell.
We'd all love to see a dyno / driving video as well when you get a chance! Thanks.

I want vids!!! That is f'in hot!
That hood is sweet. Without the maggie under the window there isnt much point to the window. But with the blower, that window is AWESOME! And the hood would be great even without the window...great job!
Awesome build...

Re: HAWKS NEW BUILD " STORM TROOPER "
I think you should start making that hood...I'd definitely be one in line for it! My friend told me to look the car up in the newest edition of GM High-Tech, but I don't have a subscription, so I google'd "Hawk's 'Stormtrooper'" and saw there was a thread about it here. He said I should get a hood like yours. LoL that car is absolutely amazing! Everything you guys do is top-notch and glad you're around for the 3rd gen crew!
Re: HAWKS NEW BUILD " STORM TROOPER "
Thanks for all of the great compliments, we have seriously thought about producing the storm trooper hoods. Would you guys be more inclined to have a hood w/o the clear piece or with? Reason being there is 130hrs in the hood on storm trooper, now granted we made it from scratch but the clear piece it self was over $500... give me some feedback and I will talk to Bruce and see what we can get in the works.
Thanks, Steven

Re: HAWKS NEW BUILD " STORM TROOPER "
My guess is that the hood with the clear piece would be a very, very low demand item for a couple reasons. First is that the $500 insert is going to guarantee that it's a $1,000+ hood, which automatically eliminates 99% of thirdgenners from the buying pool. Secondly, of that 1% who can afford it, how many have enough bling under the hood to actually benefit from seeing through it?
I'd say that if you can do the hood without the window for $500-ish, you'd have the potential for a successful product.

Re: HAWKS NEW BUILD " STORM TROOPER "
I agree with Jim. The only reason I would want that window is if Im showing off a heavy breather. But the hood shape is sweet either way. I was never sold on cowl hoods...and never sold on the ISMA hoods not to mention how hard it is to find em. So this I think is a great blend of the two styles.

I agree with the above, that was my initial reaction as well lol. I'll take a hood without the insert!. Reminds me a lot of the old Pro/Am hood, which I love.

Re: HAWKS NEW BUILD " STORM TROOPER "
I think that the window should be a custom option. I myself will never have a Mag sitting atop the intake to show off, so I shall not need the window. But if someone with enough money to have a beautiful supercharger wants to have the window, they should have the option to have one.

Oh my... Im just picturing a black thirdgen bird, with that window, and a black maggie with polished fins under it. Maybe slightly tint the window for effect. Some sinister red lighting for shows...
Hahah... Dang it if I only had money... But aside from that pipe dream, windowless would still look fantastic. Im trying to photoshop it onto my TA to see how it flows with the TA GFX. Hawks did us a favor by making it white...easy to color change haha.

Re: HAWKS NEW BUILD " STORM TROOPER "
I got with Bruce on this and he would love to do this hood for you guys. But there are some things keeping him from doing it, number one the tooling cost to make these hoods would be very very expensive, plus we would have to custom make a hood without the clear piece in it. He said he would start making them if we can get 25 guys to put a $100 deposit on a hood. The only reason we are doing this is b/c we have made stuff in the past that people have wanted and they just haven't sold the way people said they would. Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks, Steven

You say a $100 deposit but is there any kind of set price or even a rough estimate as to what the total cost would amount to?

Wow what an awesome build!!
Will the magnuson 2300 supercharger fit under a stock hood? Sure does look like it would.

How'd you guys get your tail lights to look soo good? Will you ever make tail lights like that or is that a mod we'd have to do?

Re: HAWKS NEW BUILD " STORM TROOPER "
Bruce (or whoever is posting as hawks...), is this the thread you mentioned in email today?
What does the back of the scoop look like, is it solid or open like the stock one? Is it the same height as the formula scoop or taller?
Do you have any deposits yet? My biggest debate is starting with a $600 hood and cutting it up to end up with what I described in email vs a cheaper possibly used flat or other fiberglass hood and doing a little more work to it.
What would the time line for it be? Would they be done by next spring?

Hi,
Preliminary #s are in 645RWHP and 675 RWftlbs with the pulls going to 5K as we are out of injectors and that is with only 15-17 degrees of timing so I think we will get close to the 700RWHP mark with more injector and a full pull with a little more timing not bad for a third gen
. Oh I did I mention this car is going to be for sale
the car makes over 640ftlbs across the pull WOW!!
Hi,
And to let you guys know the hood insert is actually I HIGH QUALITY polycarbonite that will withstand the heat of the engine bay and the elimants as well.

I was at the show also. Bruce's car surely is a beauty. He won a trophy for best engine. Very nice work under that hood for sure. I had the blue third gen Camaro that was just down the hill in front of him.
