Where are you guys putting your computers on your swaps?

Im in the process of locating my pcm for my ls1 swap to the inside of the car. The problem is that the pcm doesnt reach to the factory 3rd gen computer location. The wires are to short and dont reach. Im sure some have ran into this problem. I was wondering what you have done to make it work? Please dont mind the dusty engine bay and paint.

Re: Where are you guys putting your computers on your swaps?

i lengthened my wires so i could follow the factory route. I also grabbed a bulkhead connector from the junkyard so I could gut it and run everything through the factory spot in the passenger footwell

Lengthen the wires and/or move the hole closer to the engine

So if I drill a new hole closer to the engine then the pcm will fit in the factory location? Also if lengthening the pcm wiring, should I use the soldering method or the heat shrink butt connector method? This is going to be time consuming!

solder! its more reliable and less likely to cause issues. plus it will keep down the pysical size of the wiring bundle.

Re: Where are you guys putting your computers on your swaps?

Up to you to redrill a hole. Id lengthen the wires since the hole is already there

DO NOT USE BUTTCRIMPS FOR PCM WIRES EVER. Solder is the only option you should consider for this

I mounted mine in the thirdgen location and used extra wire from one of the many harnesses I've scrounged.
