Ok, I will not be keepin my AC, and I have a 4inch cowl hood on my camaro, will the stock alt and powersteering bracket work in my car??

Not likely. The Alternator is too far out to the Drivers side and for most cowl hoods it will hit it right where the cowl comes down. The Power steering pump really isnt an issue. Some Cowl hoods have a wider cowl such as the big block hood, or the Jongbloed hood are wide enough, but I don't know if they are tall enough or not.

 

Ok I'm gettin the brackets from kwik performance for the truck motor, are the truck accessories hard to make work? Like wiring up the alt, plumbing the power steering and AC? Thanlk u guys so much.

I haven't seen anyone on here that have done the kwik brackets. I doubt it will be very hard to do the alt, as for the PS, check the sticky threads they may have info on what you are looking for.

 

Look in the sticky theres pics. Never going to run truck acc and close your hood without a BIG cowl

 

F-body LS1 Kwik brackets, yes. I don't recall having seen anyone that has used truck Kwik brackets in a 3rd gen.

 

I thought u would have to use the truck brackets with the truck block.... Will the kwik ls1 brackets work on the 5.3, thanks for all the help guys.

 

Just bought a camaro from the classified section here last friday with plans to put my 5.3 Lh6 in it. I was also contemplating the kwik performance brackets. The hood won't close?? Someone has to have tried this.

 

kwik also sell the brackets for corvette and f-body & youngs f body is selling a bracket to use the third gen ac compressor. I been doing my research for my swap. Let me know how this work out.

The blocks are physically the same and both f-body and truck accessories interchange. Therefore as long as you have an f-body water pump it will work.

I believe there are a couple people in the middle of their swaps who have said they are going to use the kwik brackets but I have not seen any pics either.

 

ok im jumping in on this thread. im also doing the 5.3 truck into 88 camaro. i notice there was a company called dirtydingo.com and they sell a relocation bracket that drops the alternator down and lets you use the ls1/ls6 intake.

my question is 1#will i have to get a fbody water pump no matter what with this kit cause of the direction of the thermostat housing?

2. will the crank pulley and everything else work. will this bracket be the savior to all my probs...?

Any update on any of this? I am attempting the same swap truck motor into my 88.

 

It isn't the block that determines the brackets you need. It's the damper.
