1991 Camaro LS1 swap wiring question

Swapping LS1 out of 2001 z28. Have the engine and tranny out. Fuel tank, gauges, shifter and interior. My question is how much of the wiring do I need to pull out of this car??? I have all of the engine bay wiring (including the light harness). I just dont see an end in sight on the wires, getting ready to start pulling where the harness runs inside the car under the brake booster. Any and all help would be appreciated, or anything that I should get while I have the whole parts car. Thanks Jason

If you plan on putting the 4th gen dash in your car, then take everything you can get. If your just swapping motor and trans then unplug all 5 connectors to separate the engine harness and pcm from the car. There are multiple pictures all over this site and the internet of what the harness should look like once pulled.

Re: 1991 Camaro LS1 swap wiring question

I'm not installing the 4th gen dash but I do plan on running the 4th gen gauges. I thought that might help some of the issues with the swap (plus I like the looks of the cluster over the yellow one thats in my car). I have found enough useful info on this site to feel comfrotable doing the swap, just couldn't find a good detail pic of where to stop pulling the nightmare of wiring. I apoligize if I'm asking something I could of easily found but I truthly looked through the pics first. I've had several 3rd gen camaro's and a pretty good machanic but very lacking in the wiring dept.

all the passenger side wiring can come out. depending on how you're doing your fuse setup, some of the stuff on the driver side can too. there are 3 big harnesses (4 if you count the HVAC) under the hood - one goes, one gets modded, and the other two stay as-is. it'll help to get ahold of a helms manual if you can, but there's a ton of wiring pinouts and schematics here:

Re: 1991 Camaro LS1 swap wiring question

Thanks for the info that I read a day too late, lol. Pulled all the wires out today, that poor parts car doesn't have a wire in it. I even ended up taking the dash and steering column that I wasn't planning on. Guess I should have everything I need for the swap. Can't wait till it warms up so I can start.
