What do you all think of this donor?
I cant do anything until fri due to work, but I'm thinking of calling this guy a lil closer to the day and seeing if I can go check this out....are there any particular questions I should ask in regards to his swap?
Thanks.

Looks like it's a pretty good deal to me. I'm sure there is a way to verify that it's a 6.0L before you buy it. Good luck with it

If thats actually a 6.0... And its not hacked all to pieces, which it shouldnt be since the 6.0 long block is a drop in more or less...then that is a heck of a deal Ide say.
Just as a heads up... I sold the entire front clip off my 99 donor car as a conversion package for like $800 alone. So you can get a NICE chunk of money back parting out the shell when youre done with it. Looks pretty straight..aside from the paint issues.

Hey thanks guys...I'm going down to check it out tomorrow. I know that the is stamped into the block, but I heard it might be covered by the water pump...is there any other markings or casting #'s that will positive ID it as a 6.0?
The guy said it was from a 2010 Escalade if that makes any difference.

2010?! wouldn't that be a vvt motor?
Edit: just checked and a 2010 escalade would have an aluminum 6.2L with VVT.

Ok, thats something I didnt think of and I know I should have. I'm searching now, but is that a bad thing? The cars a runner so he must have done whatever is needed to make it work in a camaro, which should in theory translate to the third gen right? or am I being too optimistic?

Your best bet would be to check the casting number on the cylinder heads. Because if someone went through the trouble of swapping an iron block and only wants 4k for it odds are the long block was left alone.

Oh and I meant that there is no way there is a 2010 escalade motor in there. The motor alone would be worth more then that. Have fun.

Well I called the guy back and I was wrong on the year. It was from a 2008 and he said it does not have VVT. We'll see how it works out.

Thats the same block I used for my LS build. Hard to verify it, though.... Good luck to you. You can also use the rear axle and brakes (All around) for your car.

Re: What do you all think of this donor?
Well I did it...
It seems to run good, good oil pressure, pulls well, shifts crisp. The only way I guess its still unkown if its a true 6.0, but it has the 317 heads, and an ls1 intake. Supposedly it has the B4C police package too, I'll have to try and verify that. But so far I'm happy...we'll see when I try to pull it next week.

If that is a 2008 Caddy engine then you have a great platform to make a wicked car. Get the heads fully ported, change the cam, and put on a LS6 intake and you'll have an 11 second car. Simple but very effective.

Re: What do you all think of this donor?
Thanks guys...your advice has so far probably saved me a lot of money and headache.
I also took the vin to the dealer and they gave me the RPO code list for this car, and it is indeed a B4C police package car.
I'll probably start a teardown/build thread soon. When I get some time off I will start working on pulling the ole crossfire/700r4, and hopefully notching the k member.

I might trade you a T-56 for the rolling chassis if you are interested. I collect B4c's...
