LS1 camshaft

Ordered my cam kit for my ls1 swap today. Ordered a 220r with 110 LSA from Texas Speed and performance, wondering if anyone is familiar with this cam and if they liked or not.

110 LSA? What size engine is this going in and is it EFI or carbed?

Re: LS1 camshaft

Lsa seems odd for efi. 220 is way mild to say the least. I would have went with a tr224, but that's just my .02

But 220 is still an improvement over stock. 110LSA means shes gonna rumble.

Re: LS1 camshaft

Honestly dude, go check out ls1tech.com and decide your final plans for the car. If you have bigger plans for the motor, it would be better to do a bit bigger cam now than to swap then waste money swapping again.

Re: LS1 camshaft

Its going in a 5.7 ls1 out of a 2001 z28. its what TSP recommended when I called them. That cam 3000 stall in a 4l60e with 4.10 rear gears. Im not planning on headers is why they recommended that cam.

Must be a custom grind, because they only list down to 112 LSA on their site.

It should rumble pretty well.

Re: LS1 camshaft

I wanted the 110 lsa just for the rumble. when i called tsp they said they normally have that cam in stock but were out so they are drop shipping it straight from comp. I don't believe i could have went much bigger without changing alot more, just doing basic upgrades hoping for around 400 hp when done.

Re: LS1 camshaft

I would have went with the TR224, but it will still run allot better than the stock or LS6 cam ever could.

Re: LS1 camshaft

There isn't that much diffrence between the tr224 cam and the tsp 220r that i ordered. The tr224 is 224 duration and .563 lift and the 220r is 220 duration and .581 lift and you can probably order whichever lobe seperation you want. I do appreciate the advice though anyways its too late to change they emailed me the tracking # today. You guys wouldn't by chance know what the stock ls1 or ls6 cam specs are???

Re: LS1 camshaft

Your car will haull plenty of azz dont worry your power goal think youll be very happy. TSP does real good head work, Id trust their cam recommendation they know what works good with their heads. 4 deg wont make a diff you could really feel anywya imo

Ive watched a C5 with a 205 head and (it was 220 or 224 cant recall) no power adders go deep in the 11s. You dont need a bunch of cam to go fast with the LSx motors, leave the overcamming to the showoffs on youtube, youll go just as fast and not attract all the attention doing it. Now stick a real quiet muffler on it for fun.

I to am young, but there is a big difference between a loud obnoxious drone and a good smooth exhaust sound.

Re: LS1 camshaft

I look at it as it comes with the territory. I like funkyass mustangs and hawnduhs knowing their place when they see and HEAR my car. It really keeps them at bay to tell you the truth, nt to mention, i am 10X less likely to hit a dear since the bastards know to run when they hear me. Havnt hit one in the 89 yet, LOL.

Re: LS1 camshaft

not a bad cam at all. i was chatting with ed curtis about cams at flowtech induction. he was mentioning that the aussies were running cams with specs such as 216-220-600-602 110 cams in ls1's with great success for low end torque.

Re: LS1 camshaft

I'm sure i will like the cam, unfortuantly my budget keeps me from doing much more to the engine which helped me stick with a little milder cam. Might do some injectors or a throttle body later I still have to get it in the car before I worry too much about it. Hoping to start tearing the car apart in the next week or two or whenever my new engine and tranny crossmembers shows up. As far as the exhaust goes I already installed a 40 series flowmaster on it (which sounds like azz with the 3.4 thats currently in the car, lol). Hoping to run a single 3 inch exhaust with no cats.
