LSx pan to k member clearance

Hello, long time since I have been active on here. Just bought an 88 Camaro for an LSx engine swap. I have an LQ9 with a set of ported LS2 heads to go into it. My question is this: What kind of pan clearance can I expect by running Spohn motor mount pads on the stock k member? I am going to run the GM performance LSx swap pan which I believe to be not as big of a sump area. Was looking at going tubular, but if I am only going to gain a few pounds in weight savings, I will use the money elsewhere on the build. Pics would be very helpful.

Welcome back. We have a LTX and LSX engine swap subforum now (to which I have moved this).

I'm not sure any TGO member has tried that pan yet, but the consensus is it still hangs down too low below anything else under the car, and would be easy to damage. The f-body pan is generally considered to be the best choice.

An fbody oil pan with spohn motor mounts is as good as it gets without modification. There is just enough space to work, but still keep it in the back of your mind.

I too would agree fbody pan really is your best bet clearance wise. Mine is just about level with the bottom of the k-member, I wouldn't want to go any lower, especially if you have bumpy roads or plan on lowering the car

Thanks for the replies! I dont plan on lowering it much if any, but it looks like I may just look for an F body pan.
