Clutch advice. ls7 or aftermarket?

Hey guys.. im getting down to the finer details of ordering my small perfomance parts list.here is what Im doing and aiming for around 380whp:

ported and polished stock 241 heads and valve angle job
stock ls1 intake and tb
tsp 228r cam 112lsa
hd chain
arp head bolts
comp 918 springs
chromoly rods
stock manifolds fo now till I can afford hawks LT's,custom y pipe to my old 3 inch magnaflow lt1 over axle muffler

I have a stock t56 from a 2000 camaro. The car will be more street than strip action and daily summer driven..hard

I do plan on doing more future upgrades like ls6 intake, bigger tb,lt headers. So with that in mind..whats a good clutch to go with thats grabby but not a bitch for daily driving in traffic? My engine builder doesnt recommend the ls7 at all,he would rather see a spec..monster..ram etc stage 2 or 3 in there.Opinions on everything are more than needed and appreciated.

Re: Clutch advice. ls7 or aftermarket?

I've heard some pretty good things about the LS7 clutch, it'll be the next one going in my car. I believe ghettocruiser is using the LS7 clutch, he may chime in here pretty soon. I've heard they are great cutches for heads/cam motors but I have no personal experience with them.

Re: Clutch advice. ls7 or aftermarket?

Only bad things Ive heard are when guys are pushing over 500hp and beat them hard at the track with launches.I dont plan on making near that kind of whp anytime soon so i think Ill be safe. Its a fair ways cheaper than an aftermarket clutch and everyone says has very smooth driving manners on the street.

Re: Clutch advice. ls7 or aftermarket?

I've heard nothing but good things about the amount of power the LS7 clutch can handle.

That's what I've been running. Probably has 100 or so passes on it with sticky tires, some street driving, still feels like new. But, I haven't done a visual on it yet.

One member (can't remember who exactly) had pics during removal during an engine upgrade. Beat on it kinda like I have, if memory serves. Looked practically new.

Re: Clutch advice. ls7 or aftermarket?

Yea I think Im pretty much sold on the ls7 clutch for my goals.I rarely see the track and like to cruise alot more than hard clutch drops.

Im also thinking of getting the tsp 228r cam on a 110lsa instead for the power range and chop idle using stock manifolds.Opinions?

LS7 clutch.

Save the dough for the LT's they are a big step over the manifolds especially when cammed

Re: Clutch advice. ls7 or aftermarket?

Im running an LS7 clutch and love it.
It took clutch dump @ 5000+ rpm like a pro. I removed it at the end of the season (to build a new engine) and it still looks brand new. On a stock to midly modded engine I strongly recommend it.

Re: Clutch advice. ls7 or aftermarket?

I have been running the LS7 clutch now for 4 years and it works great. Stock feel and always grabs when I lean on it hard. I'm anxious to see how it holds up to the Magnacharger though
