I'm having a hard time finding a f-body alt bracket for my swap and curious if anyone has done something diffrent than use a factory stle bracket ort made their own. It needs to be in the factory location though and this is the last thing holding me up since I need it to drill and tap the mounting hole and would rather not try it with the motor in the car.

 

well i found these 2 part numbers

12556915 F-body Alternator brace

Well is it the full part that holds the idler? Like this.

 

im guessing the bracket one is the one in the picture and the brace one is the rear bracket that they use.

i need to get one here soon too.

 

they are cheaper through gmpartsdirect.com looks like ill be ordering it. my question is now is the small bracket nessesary?

 

i didnt use it on my last build. didnt see/have any issues.
