Finishing my Lt1 swap. Now onto cooling.

I'm finishing my lt1 swap. Now all that's left is my cooling. I have my old l03 rad and single fan but don't want to use it.

I hear a lot of people using the lt1 rad and fans and of course doing fine. I want to purchase the rad new or alteast refurbed. Any good brands out there? I was planning of purchasing the champion 3 row rad that's mentioned in the sticky in the cooling section of this site. Should I just run with that and stock lt1 fans?

Give me some suggestions. I would like to hear what other lt1 swappers went with. My swap is pretty much done she is all wired up and ready just need to finish the cooling and tuning out the vats.

if your on a budget, go to a junkyard and pick yourself up a dual fan and rad. you can get one out of a v6 camaro or a v8. aslong as its dual setup it should work fine. look in my ltx swap thread and theres a good discussion about radiators. make sure you pick up the shroud aswell.

hope this helps

Re: Finishing my Lt1 swap. Now onto cooling.

I am running the stock 83 radiator and 97 f body V6 dual fans. I turned the fans upside down in the housing by trimming a few tabs and chopped up the top half of my factory fan shroud and used a heat gun to mold it to the V6 fans. They cool great! I also used some black powder coated SS lines for my heater core lines, I ran them next to the valve cover and you can hardly tell they are there. I run a 93 Z28 upper radiator hose with the extra line coming off for the line from the rear of the heads. I also used a 24" SS flex line for the lower rad hose.

That setup cooled my old 350 great. I only ran my LT1 for 5 minutes before I got a heavy rod knock, but I am sure that it will cool my current LT1 as well.

Not on a budget at all. Just best bang for the buck.

I got myself a bday gift and purchased a champion radiator mentioned in the cooling section sticky. Now here is my next question lt1 or tpi fans?
