Swapping from 350/700r4 to a LT1/700R4 - Hard to rebuild to carb?
Hi guys!
I've decided to stop spending all my hard earned cash on the lousy 350 I got in the car, and have bought a LT1 with 4L60E, which I'm using for this season.
The car has been in the shop for almost two months now trying to get the old 350 to work, so I'm looking to get the car on the road asap!
Is it much trouble to rebuild the LT1 to a carbed engine? I'm not interested in using a lot of time to get the wiring and stuff until this winter, so I'm going to take the injection system off, and using an edelbrock intake with 650 carb which I got on the old one. Re-using the th-700r4 until I get the wiring stuff done this winter.
What can i expect of problems regarding this?
Mind you, I'm not going to do the swap personally, I have a mechanic for that. I just want to know if there's any surprises I might need a heads up for!

Use a LT1 specific carb intake and conventional SBC distributor. Dont worry about the opti up front, leave it unplugged but in place to fill the hole. Use all the LT1 accessories because generic SBC stuff wont bolt up
That makes it essentially a high compression SBC

This is the GMPP intake for LT1s, its not the best, but choices are quite limited for GEN II engines

That would be quickest for sure, I waited a week to have my intake drilled for the LT1 heads. I finally got mine started tonight, running an altered Vic jr with a Holly 600 DP. I would liked to have gotten a 650, or maybe something in a Vac secondary. Just blipping the throttle though I have some flat fall on its face tuning to do. Looking forward to seeing yours come together too. Carb Lt1s are kinda of a minority around here.
