LS376 into 91 Camaro
LS376 into 91 Camaro
I am new to this form and currently installing an LS376/480 into a 91 Camaro. I have a couple of questions, if I put an F pan on this engine, will it install, without an after market K-member. Also, not much info came with the crate engine, where can I find info on the vac. line hook up and any other things I should consider on this install. I have done some searchs and really did not find a complete help on the install and engine hook up

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.
I moved this to the LTX and LSX Engine Swap sub-forum.
The f-body pan is your best choice out of what is available to date. Depending upon the mounts you use, you can either clear a stock crossmember, or may need to notch it a little.
Vacuum hook-ups are basically to the car - the large nipple on the back of the intake manifold can be used for the power brake booster; the small one for your HVAC.
Did you see the sticky in the top section of this forum about LS1 swaps? It's pretty thoroughly covered there.
What are you doing for harness, PCM, transmission?

Re: LS376 into 91 Camaro
I am using the harness from GM for this engine. I am using a 4L80E from Jakes and it also has it`s own harness and computer. I was concerned what to do with the outlets coming out of the valve covers?

The valve covers only have the PCV system, to the best of my knowledge. Should be self-contained with the engine. There may be something about the LS3 engine of which I'm unaware, though.

Perhaps it didn't come with the PCV system, which would surprise me.
What pan does it have? I've looked at pictures on several different sites, but you never know if it's a "representative" photo, or the real thing. The ones I've seen appear to be the f-body pan, and show tubes for the PCV. However, a member on a different forum had a pic that looked like the truck or H8 pan.

I was just reading a GM High Tech Performance article where they put that engine in a 4th gen, and they transferred over the pan. So, looks like you need the f-body pan, pickup, and tray.

Oh, and the pics show the evap tube, not the PCV like I thought.

Re: LS376 into 91 Camaro
welcome
as five7 mentioned, you wont need an aftermarket kmember if you use the fbody pan/pickup, but you may want to notch the kmember for a bit more clearance in the back (depending on mounts). if you're keeping a/c, you'll need to notch the front as well.
depending on your state and emissions requirements, the evap system may not be required. if so, you'll also need to get a 4th gen gas tank for it to function properly (pressure sensor on sending unit, charcoal canister, etc). Most of us located outside California tune out stuff like that (less strict when it comes to engine swap requirements).
The 4L80e may require some trans tunnel clearancing and a custom crossmember (unless someone's come out with one already, i could be incorrect).

Guess I missed the reference to a 4L80E.
BMR makes a 4L80E crossmember, but nobody makes a humped type.

Re: LS376 into 91 Camaro
On the pan issue, GM also has the "Muscle Car Pan", part number 19212593 which is a lot cheaper than the F-Car pan. Does it hang lower and be a problem when on rough surface roads or rail tracks?

It does hang a lot lower. The f-body pan is still the best option out there for a 3rd gen.
Although I don't recall hearing if anyone has tried the Holley pan (or if Holley actually started producing it).
