so i swapped my 87 trans am a couple of years ago and never quite finished it but still drove it around.starting 2 weeks ago it stalled out on me at a stop sign and would only start if i held the pedal to the floor and when it would start it would puff smoke out of the tailpipes and now does it all the time when warmed up.

I know its gotta be running wayy to rich (thats my guess)? but what would cause it?

ive changed MAF, coolant temp sensor, checked fuel pressure and swapped out Fuel pressure regulator and still nothing. it starts up ok when its cold most of the time but after it warms up it just craps out.

i really dont wanna go and have another ECM sent out to have VATS removed and tuned unless i know for sure its the ECM.

PLEASE GIVE ME IDEAS??

 

Running rich or blowing white smoke from a bad head gasket?

 

def running rich like black smoke when it starts..it only acts up once its warm and you can smell gas when it stalls out and i have to floor it to start.

another thought is that it could be a bad opti? i just put it in back in february some kid had it sitting outside for 2 years under a tarp but said it was new when he put the motor there. its ran fine until now though.
