charging A/C system?

Hey guys. Quick question....for those of you who used all the 3d gen a/c stuff with the LS1 compressor, how did you go about charging the system? Did you swap out the metal lines with the R12 fitting for a 134a fitting?

Would one of these things work?

Re: charging A/C system?

I just went through this with my system a few weeks ago. I bought both the adaptor fittings at Napa. They come in a little kit. It's pretty eaisy, just remove the valve cores from the old fittings and put the new ones on. I bought a manifold gauge set, a vacuum pump, 3 big cans of R134a, oil and a can tap for the gauges. Make sure you pull a deep vacuum on the system for 30-45 mins before charging. If you use a manifold gauge set after pulling the vacuum on the system, you can then use that to pull in the bulk of the first can very quickly.
