true story, lol. had a buddy make a pretzel out of one with a procharged ls1/t56 car. he's got a 12 bolt and he thought it'd take the abuse. PST driveshaft's are cheaper than a fast intake btw
i'm ordering mine this week from them. they claim their aluminum one is good for 800hp. their 'moly for 1200+. moly shafts start at $349

I don't think you can really go wrong with any of the options you put forward (5.3 heads, 243 heads, L92 heads). Although, I'm not sure it's a good idea to shave down the L92 head as far as you need. You might talk to a good engine builder to see what pitfalls lie in that option.
I just went through the head dilema, too. I had a set of Greg Good 317 heads sitting in the garage. Mind you, those are about the best 317 heads money can buy. Even at that, the intake was only about 330 CFM but exhaust flow was phenomenal. The 317 would have worked really well but I did choose the Texas Speed LS3 heads for a few simple reasons.
1. My #1 priority was to be compatible with the future of aftermarket parts development and have my pick of good used parts from Corvette and 5th gen Camaro owners. Intakes, throttle bodies, TVS blowers.... most of the good used stuff for sale is coming off LS3 cars.
2. Ported LS3 heads flow nearly as good as LS7 heads. Unbelieveable bang for the buck. Trust me, I have zero regrets. I know this is the last head I will buy because I can't afford the next step up.
3. You don't have to spend a fortune on a good intake. You can get a stock LS3 intake with fuel rails and 42-lb injectors any day of the week for $300 from SLP on ebay.
4. Stock parts work very well. Stock LS3 valves, LS7 lifters, L92 rockers... all good stuff.
There's not a right or wrong answer here. Just do something and don't regret it. A set of heads is money well spent.
If you want that extra bit of power, consider an electric water pump. It will probably yield just as much or more than the slight bump in compression ratio. And with lower compression you have a bigger safety margin to run nitrous.
