which trans

Hey all, I just bought a 2001 lq4 6.0 and want to run an auto trans. What would be the best trans to run? 700r4 or 4l60e. Also what years can I use? I can find all sorts of 4x4 trannys but no 2wds. Can I use a 4wd trans and just change out the tailshaft and tailshaft housing? Thanks.

Re: which trans

of the two options 4l60e is your better bet. if you're open to more options, a 4l80e will take more power than either, but may require a bit of massaging to the trans tunnel to get it to fit up

Re: which trans

Ok which year do I need? My 6.0 has the removable crank spacer so the mounting flange is even with the block now.
