LT1 in my 85Z
Just thought I would post a few pics of my LT1 before I pull it and drop in a LQ4
Unfortuneatly, I went carbed because I bought this car as a roller, and the guy I bought it from ripped out all of the old TPI wiring.

Can always use a stand alone harness to get the EFI wiring back in place. It just needs 12v and GRD

You'll love the 6.0, Id suggest EFI for it though

How much is "all" of the TPI wiring? Most of it isn't used, anyway.
Both of my LS1 swaps were into factory carb cars. The only wiring difference was having to run a wire to the in-tank fuel pump (which I added as well). I doubt he ripped that wire out.

Re: LT1 in my 85Z
He took everything from the bulkhead into the engine bay, including the ecm/pcm. The fuel pump wire is there though, cause I have a mallory electric in line pump that I use back there. Could I make the wiring harness thats coming with the engine into a standalone? Or do I have to purchase one? Also, I use all aftermarket gauges, so i'm not sure if I can splice into the new harness for them. Thanks for your help.
Re: LT1 in my 85Z
As long as the dash harness hasnt been "gone through" you should be fine
You can build a conversion harness to plug into everything still. Read the LS1 swap sticky for details. You can build a completely integrated harness and skip the stand alone part. Gauges can be ran through the existing sender wires and a depinned cluster connector for a cleaner install

Re: LT1 in my 85Z
Well I picked myself up a set of L92 heads with .650 lift springs, LS3 intake with injector and fuel rails. So im looking roughly between 500-550hp at the flywheel when finished. I got the ECM and wiring harness with the LQ4, so I am trying to figure out which automatic trans I should go with for this setup. Currently I have a T56 with the LT1 and I know that will have to be changed. Thanks James

Also, should I go with a cable tb, or dbw and get the pedal setup for this ecm?
