Help with high Idle

I'm having problems with my idle when the cars seems to warm up.

Here is the deal. On a cold start the engine with idle ok (around 600-700 rpms) until a few minutes then work its way up to 800-900rpms. Coolant is around 120* at this time. I then go around town and take the car for a spin. By this time the temp is at 185-190* which I figure is operating temp.

Now when I come to a stop sign, the idle will stay at around 3K rpm's!! I have to sit for about 20 seconds and then it will go down to 2K rpms, about 10 more seconds then it goes back down to normal idle. WHAT GIVES!?!?!

This is the motor thats in my '85 camaro and if it helps, it just has a flash tune from Mark Roman. ALSO, the idle set screw on the TB is about 3/4 all the way up because if I have it any lower, the car will not idle at all on cold start-ups.

Re: Help with high Idle

I didnt even know there was and idle adjustment screw on the ls1 tb lol. That does sound very odd.How was the car idling/driving before the flash tune? Are there any mods to the motor, and yes 190* is operating temp upto 220* before the fan turns on with factory tune and t-stat

Re: Help with high Idle

Car has 232/234 cam .600ish lift, ls6 manifold, udp, longtubes, p&p TB, 4" intake, and is MAF-less (Speed Density)

When I was building the car I had the PCM sent out to get programmed so this is all new to me. I have a manual fan switch also, to help keep it cooler.

Re: Help with high Idle

speed density tunes are harder to dial-in....this could be your issue. you probably need to have someone spend some more time getting the tune perfected.
