LT1 oil pans
LT1 oil pans
I currently have a shortblock assembled. I am getting ready to put top half, and oil pan on.
Question is I see the B body, and F body oil pans look to be the same. I have a B body oil pan currently.
Is it worthwhile upgrading to a aftermarket oil pan, or stay with the b body, or get a new f body oil pan?
Engine is going into a 85 trans am.
Thanks,

Re: LT1 oil pans
That really depends on what you plan on doing with your car.
My LT1 has the stock oil pan on it, and works perfectly fine on the street and at the drag strip and occasional twisty runs with 450+ N/A HP.
However, if you plan on road coursing the car often, I would highly suggest an aftermarket pan with kick-outs.
