Why wont the 3rd gen clam shell mount work with the 4th gen tail housing? (700r4-4l60e)

Do the bolts just not line up or what? Is this somthing a welder couldnt fix? I dont want to drop $40 on one if its somethin ez to mod.

Re: Clam shell

yes, the metal piece that surrounds the small end of the torque arm had a couple of different designs, and had a different design between an auto or 6 speed.

Yes I know this, I was asking what exactly is diffrent from the 700r4 clam from the 4l60e clam shell.

Wonderin if anyone has tryed to put the 700 clam in the 60e and noticed why it wouldnt fit.

Re: Clam shell

I'm not aware of any differences for any automatics. However, one wierd thing gm did was to reverse the direction the torque arm faces. Have you verified the bushin is facing the same direction and the torque arm?

The 3rd gen TH700R-4 mount holes and the LS1, at least, 4L60E mount holes are spaced differently.

I don't know if it changed with the LT1 4L60 or 4L60E.
