fuel line questions on ls1 swap
ok i have a ls1 out of a 04 gto.now i have only one line coming out of the fuel rail not two. i have a 02 ss tank that i plan on installing. i am trying to figure out if i have to run the vette filter or not. ive read so many things now i have confused myself.my plan was to run one line from the front and keep the regulator in the 02 tank and then run a 3rd or 4th gen filter. so if im correct i will not have to buy the vette filter with the fuel pressure reg. in it. need help asap.thanx...i put up pics of what i plan on running with the fuel rail i have

Re: fuel line questions on ls1 swap
You run a vetter filter as the vette filter is the regulator. Then you run one line up to the fuel rail. Its that simple

Re: fuel line questions on ls1 swap
you stated that your using a 4th gen tank, they have a regulator built in, just run the lines in a stock 4th gen fashion with 4th gen filter but leave out the evap line and run the one line to the rail, no vette filter needed.
so your plan is correct...
so your plan is correct...

Thats a first ive heard of a regulator being in the 4th gen tank? My set up is a 4th gen tank, vette filter and then to the fuel rail

and make sure you bolt that fuel rail to the intake... i noticed there was a glue gun next to it.

got the pic off the internet...so i can run the 4th gen tank with the built in reg. and the fuel rail that i have that has the fuel pressure reg built into it as well as shown it the pic up top.and run the 3rd gen or 4th gen filter correct

Re: fuel line questions on ls1 swap
yes. best bet is find a jy with a 4th gen not dismantled like a pick n pull and disconnect the fuel line off the tank and cut the line where it kicks out near the front, then just add a compression fitting and add line up to the rail. thats how i did mine. easy. 3/8 line i believe.

Re: fuel line questions on ls1 swap
Ive never heard of anyone removing the regulator from the tank...?
I always thought the whole point of the vette filter was for the "return" function of the fuel system. Instead of the return being up at the fuel rail, its handled back at the tank/filter.
Never really looked into the vette filter much though because I just used the 4th gen set up. It fits right in place and worked 100% since it was hooked up exactly as it was in the 4th gen.

Re: fuel line questions on ls1 swap
With a 3rdgen tank there is no regulator to remove..never heard of that on here either. The process is simple to understand regardless which tank you are using.
3rdgen tank is simple, use the corvette filter/regulator and a single line upto the fuel rail. The return line also gets plumbed into the corvette filter/regulator.This is common for guys who dont want to swap fuel tanks.
4thgen tanks have the regulator built into its fuel pump assembly unit. All you need to do is run the feed line to the rail..you can put a filter wherever you wish. The pros and cons between 3rd vs 4th gen tanks have been discussed more than enough.. for emissions..weight, wiring of gauges etc.Wont get into that lol
From what i was told..dont know how true this is,but the regulator on the fuel rail itself isnt to regulate the fuel coming in..but more to have equal fuel pressure between either side of the fuel rail itself so that all 8 injectors have the same steady pressure of what is being feed to the rail. You still require a true regulator before the fuel rail at 50-60psi.Someone correct me if that is wrong or not..Im curious as to the true nature of the diaphragm on the rail or is it serving a purpose of the returnless system?

Re: fuel line questions on ls1 swap
All the information is on the board to improve over stock parts and makes the swap easier
-plastic 4th gen tank, lighter, rust free, ready to run an LSx
-the new sender in the 4th gen tank is more accurate 40-240 ohm VS 0-90 ohm, larger scale = greater accuracy
-worried about the gauge? go read 750 L98's thread on the simple resistor swap, costs like $2 from the shack, maybe another $10 if you dont have a solder gun
