2011 camaro engine cover mod

i picked this up the other day from a dealership that did a transformers swap on a camaro and they didnt need this cover anymore

so i sat it on my thirdgen to see how it looks....right now its in mock up stage only but it looks sweet to me...ive seen many people use vette covers and other things...but how about this? how many people have used it...or other parts from the new camaros?Name: d2b1e9f9.jpg

Re: 2011 camaro engine cover mod

If you like it, do it. I'm not a fan of engine covers but then again the LS engine in stock form is not very good looking at all. But it's your car.

The covers, to me seem like a way to just hold in engine heat.

Re: 2011 camaro engine cover mod

yeah it looks good...yeah it looks like plastic....but i had this car out over summer and hardly anyone at the local show noticed any difference about the engine bay they all thought the engine was stock to a third gen ....for now i just want something to look futuristic about the engine bay that catches peoples attention ...it doesn ttake much to remove either way so its not a permanet mod

Re: 2011 camaro engine cover mod

Maybe I'm alone in this but I love the look of an LS, coils on valve covers and all. You did a nice job making the cover fit well, but its just not for me.

I don't mean to knock your idea, I would have definitely tried it too in your shoes...

but it just ends up looking like a bunch of plastic trying to look like an engine, instead of hte usual LSx bunch of engine trying to look like a bunch of plastic.

It's awesome you tried it, but I dont quite think it works. Almost makes it look like you put a big fake plastic v8 cover on a v6 or something if that makes any sense. Rock what you got proudly, the people who dont notice it's anything special are not the people that are worth impressing.

Well, if you like it, then keep it on there. Everyone is going to have an opinion about it. I personally think it looks fine with it on there.

Re: 2011 camaro engine cover mod

Personally I think that style covers are wayy to "boxy" but my advice if you do plan on using the cover to set you lsx swap apart from other.Repaint the cover...match the black plastic to body color, grind off the cheverolet lettering and fix it in,then put a camaro sticker or whatever you want in the same location and clear coat the whole cover. That lil bit of effort will make it more appealing when the hood opens.Just my opinion.

Hey doesn't my vote count? . I would love to have one to take attention away from turbo . This would only add to my whole sleeper theme.

Re: 2011 camaro engine cover mod

if the people at shows look at the car and can't see the extensive work to get an lsx engine in the car without it looking like a hack job, then they're not the people i'm trying to impress....
