5.3 harness question.

ok so Im building my own engine harness for my swap and I had a question about 2 transmission connectors. First Im goin to be running a 4l60E for my swap. Now my question is do I need to keep the range selector for the trans or can I get rid of it? I have looked but couldnt find anything on it.
