Axle/Gears: ford 9" locker 3.70
so I swapped in my ls1 tank this weekend.... pics inside

So here's my question, I have already fabbed a small heat shield for the tank where the exhaust tube passes over the rear end and enters the muffler, do I need one above the muffler between it and the tank as well or isn't it hot enough to worry about?




If you all have something, post some pics for some ideas please (searched but didnt find anything about this exact topic)

If it were me, I would most definitely install a heat shield between the tank and the muffler. You want to keep that fuel as cool as you can. Mufflers get pretty darn hot. Here's a pic of the stock heat shield

BTW, your car looks nice. I like it. I think I am going to be putting similar wheels on my '89 GTA. They just won't be black

awesome thanks, mine didnt have a stock one either so I didnt know what it looked like, I'll most likely fab one then

not that i advise it, but just information-wise, ive run my exhaust under my 4th gen tank now for 6 months, zero issues and the 3 inch over the axle pipe is damn close to the tank. i plan on putting heat shields on, just havent gotten to it.

And i also have been running a fourth gen tank with zero problems. I however have the stock shield
