I'm in too. I'm SO glad I held out on buying the headers. I've been in contact with Hawks and Stainless Works and I *thought* I was getting stonewalled by both of them, but it turns out they were listening.

Let's get a group purchase going so a bunch of us can be the Beta testers for these things

 

I ordered my 1 3/4 headers like 3 weeks ago....oh well

 

those things are huge! glad to see there's another killer option for these engine swaps

 

Is there going to be a y pipe optional available in the near future for this aswell? I dont mind being a tester for a good price lol

 

A usable y-pipe is really hard to make because everybody's transmission & suspension mods will necessitate a different path for the y-pipe. That's best left up to the individual to fabricate (or have fabricated).

 

Post some pics of them installed when you get your hands on them. I'm curious to see the fitment.

 

Hey thanks! About 4 months ago I asked you to build me a set with 1 7/8 and you told me NO

Now I'm stuck with primaries that I didn't want in the first place!

Mine are still new, never ran. Can you help a customer out? Or am I SOL?

 

Those are BADD! Guessing they will clear the stock K-member?? If so I'm in for a group buy.

 

My 2" hawks headers clear the stock k member no problem, even better now with my tubular k member. So i am sure the 1 7/8" are no issue then.

 

If a gp happens i would be in too.

 

Damn it! I might have gone with these if they were around when I ordered mine. I just got my 1 3/4" in the mail today, and then I see this. Oh well, they should be plenty big enough for what I want to do right now.

On a side note, at first glance out of the box, the headers I received today look phenomenal! Nice job Hawks!

 

Well, shitska. I've got a set of brand new 2" primaries and I would have held out for these 1-7/8" inch if I had known.

Bruce, I think a lot of us are legitimately excited about these. I've been asking for these for a while, and I'm very happy to see them. Maybe a group purchase can get a few sets into users hands to drum up some installations & reviews?

Spraking of interest, are you setting up at Carlisle this year?

 

So we got 4 guys in for group purchase if possible.I really think we should make this happen and post our experiences with the new headers.How many people would it require you Hawks to allow a group purchase?

These stock manifolds and small y pipe are really choking my 228r cam lol

 

I'm still in for the GP -- if it happens you can ship it with the cross member my wife bought me for our anniversary

 

Im sending Bruce an email and taking initiative of setting up a group purchase.Hopefully we can get an answer soon.Id like to see this happen and let my lq4 breathe.Will keep you guys informed if I hear anything.

I think thats going to be the issue with most of us that made the purchase already. I dont want to take another dive into the price again.

Dont get me wrong I would love to have them and maybe someday.... heck most likely I will make the purchase but for now I will use what I have. they work and were better than my 02 ported manifolds (got rid of 99% rasp)

 

Havent heard back from Bruce yet but I would like to ask you guys how hard are header swaps with longtubes.Are they easier to install from the top or bottom.Im debating doing this in the driveway or taking the car to a shop and having it done on a hoist.

 

When I installed mine they slipped right in from the top. I had no accessories on my motor however and basically an empty engine bay minus the motor.

 

mine went right in. I forgot if the drives side was top or bottom but the pass side was from the bottom. i had to slide them in on a angle then twisted them up into pos.

 

Alright guys so I called and spoke with Bruce(awesome guy) and heres the deal.If 5 of us legit want a group purchase he will give us free shipping on the headers.If we get 10 or more then he can work out a better deal.

Did stainless works redesign the 1 7/8 header for better ground clearance? My collector on my 1 3/4 3inch collector hangs LOW and is basically keeping me from lowering my car any further...

 

I believe these fit better and were redesigned slighty.If I recall..earlier versions of hawk headers had slight fittment variances from car to car but the new ones seem to be alot better from what Im seeing on here.

I was going to buy these headers the first few weeks they came out..had interest in setting up a GP.The day I was going to place the order..got laid off work,halted all my plans and now parking the car so Im now living lsx dreams through here for awhile till my financial situation allows me to play.Sorry guys..rough patch on my end.

The 1 7/8 headers is a smaller tube design of the 2in header, the collector is in the EXACT SAME PLACE as the 2in , We have never had a problem with header fitment just y pipe with all of the different cross member and torque arms available on the market. Thsi is the reason we only do the 2in in header in a header only and the complete system and the system you have to use a BMR track pak and our long tube cross member as this is the parts they were designed around. My 1 3/4 are tucked up nice and I could lower my car as much as I wanted and they would not be the first of my concerns.
