lt1 swap info

been looking at at doing a swap in my 87 iroc with the pooped out 305 was gonna go with a carb 383 but found some pretty good prices on lt1s and thought bout going this route instead just wanting some info from ppl that may have already done this swap
how difficult was it how bad is the wiring what kind of oil pan and front drive system will i need i know they differ from the corvette to the camaro, caprice also heard something bout getting the computer reprogrammed what year would be the best just trying to get some thoughts or should i just stick to the carbed 383 or maybe just the tpi thats in it having a hard time deciding also wanna go from auto to manual and i know the t5 isnt that strong also another reason for going with the lt1 so i can have the t56 6spd let me know your thoughts and ideas any help making up my mind would be great lol

Re: lt1 swap info

look into the LT1/LSX specific area there is a lot of info to filter through. I would recommend Pocket for the wire harness. It saves a lot of headache. Mechanically it'll bolt right up to the transmission and the clam shell motor mounts will bolt right up to the engine. you will have to do some modifying if you are going to use the f-body A/C and accessories. It's only minor cut/welding. read through all the info to figure out your goals, and then take it from there.

Re: lt1 swap info

it all depends on how you treat them. I haven't put any serious power to one yet, until my build is finished. They are the same diff, just depending on the year depends on the type of LSD. I'm running a putting a 4th gen in for the brakes and LSD. I can't budget anything stronger right now. There is also a lot of info on those in the drivetrain section.
