electric water pump on lq9

ok guys this is an odd one.

i want to run an electric water pump on my car. my issue is im not ready to pony up the 600 plus change all my accessories at this point.

i am looking at running an inline pump and leaving my belt driven pump in place. the only time i will need the electric pump is between rounds at the track.

is it possible to leave my serpentine belt in place so it will run the water pump when the engine is on. and then when the car is off turn the electric pump on with the belt still on.

Cant say Ive seen a setup quite like that on an lsx motor.I dont think you can have both ..Im not sure if the water pump would allot the coolant to flow well with the engine off and using an inline electric pump.

Where inline would you attempt to hook it up?

If you take the stock pump apart and remove the impeller, I could see this as a realistic possibility. With the impeller in place it may not be enough of a restriction to matter when the car is sitting in the pits not running, but I'm not really sure.

im not to sure either lol. i know some guys do it but they take the belt off when they are at the strip and change to one that doesnt drive the waterpump. im hoping to not have to mess with that and just leave it in place. maybe i will try and call mezziere (spelling) today.

I have this on the wish list for the '57:

But, the only thing the belt will run on that car is the alternator. I've wondered why they couldn't put an idler pulley on the motor so you could route the belt the same as stock, but I suppose that wouldn't be as easy as I think it would be. I'll probably convert the '57 to the f-body alternator mount and damper anyway, just to make belt routing easier.

The pump choices for the truck applications is much more limited. Since you'd probably be better off with the LS1 type pump outlet, no particular reason to go with a truck version.
