No idea what you are talking about comparing LT1 to a TPI
Completely different ECM and wiring ,LT1 engine requires LT1 controls ( and you don't want to be putting LT1 heads on a Gen 1 block)

To use an LT1 long-block, you'd still need to mod the intake for a distributor and account for EGR delete in the tune. To use the heads and intake manifold only, water passage differences at the deck need corrected.
With the higher compression ratio of the LT1, a cooling effect of the EGR system is going to gain mileage and do nothing bad to power.
Personally, I'd do the full LT1 swap. Or if you have the LT1 engine only, do the coil-per-plug 0411 PCM swap.
Lots of information in the Engine Swap forum.

What I was talking about was putting the lt1 engine in and still use the tpi ecu and wires and maf

You would have to mod the intake to take a TPI distributor and eliminate the Opti entirely.
(Did someone already say that?)

You would have to machine (drill) a hole for the distributor, make a spacer for the distributor, buy the GM optispark blockoff plate (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/NAL-12367600/), use the TPI throttle body and keep the factory TPI wiring harness and 165 computer.... you can't use the LT1 EGR anymore either.
I did it to a 1996 Corvette Grand Sport LT4 in my GTA.

What is the difference in signals from the opti to the dizzy?
I've read some info about a megasquirt working with an opti by using two of the 4 pins. You can't change the constants in the bin to work with opti?

Re: tpi same wiring on lt1
I did just that. Welded my lt1 timing cover holes shut.. running an ewp
Drilled the intake welded a spacer to intake. Dropped in a MDS Pro Billet distributor.
Im running my stock 1992 TPI 7730 harness and ecm. ($59 code for boost)
Thinking of swapping to a 411 pcm swap but using a vortec distrib. for ref. signal. vs the 24x setup.
OP, just redo your harness for a compete LT1 swap and save your bucks for a 24x / 411 pcm swap.
This is what I should have done from the start
