fuel tank, ls1 motor to 86 camaro

so im going to install the ls1 tank to the ls1 motor in a 1986 305 tbi motor car, i heard that this will take the factory fuel line up untill where it goes into the motor, can i just cut the original line use a clamp and connect to a rubber fuel hose to complete the line where it meets the motor? and do the same for the return line? looking for the most economic, fast, safe option.

Rubber hose & the word safe do not belong in the same sentence.

At minimum, get a compression fitting so you can adapt a piece of braided line from the factory steel line to the LS engine.

Here is a compression fitting that converts to AN line.
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/rus-639200/overview/

From here you can make a piece of braided line that will connect to the engine.

Which factory fuel line are you talking about, the '86, or the LS1?

BTW, there was no TBI in 1986.

15th time, LS1 Factory Fuel lines are not a direct fit, they kick out under the driver, if you replace the line from right where it kicks out to where it straightens back out with one long semi-straight piece of line tucked into the rail it works perfect. So get an LS1 tank with lines off the tank right to just past the filter then add a straight piece all the way up to the rail. Im going this same route with my 67 bird as well.

I don't see the advantage of installing the ls1 tank unless you are doing it for smog reasons.

Uhhhh what?? ? Plastic is lighter, rustproof and comes with a built in fuel regulator. Not to mention it has a bucket to eliminate fuel starvation under hard cornering. Cost is usually low too, under the cost of a new pump only upgrade for a crappy 3rd gen tank. Direct bolt in minus extending the filler neck.

Is it possible to run an LS1 tank with a new high pressure pump in it. Mount a corvette style regulator/filter where the factory filter is (return back to the tank there) and than run a steel braided 3/8" fuel line from the back of the car along the transmission tunnel to the new LS engine?
