The Start of my 86 LS swap turbo build

Hello guys i just joined the board, i figured this is as good a spot to say hello as any. This will be my build. 86 camaro, L33 all aluminum 5.3 with 799 heads, and a single turbo im thinking 76mm or 80mm, it should make for a fun car. i will start off with just getting the motor, trans, turbo, and megasquirt all up and running. then i will start to tackle the suspension. i am planning to start fitting the motor next week or as soon as i get the motor mounts and find a 4th gen LS1 oil pan. i will post up some pictures and show my progress as i make it. this is going to be a junkyard dog build so it might take me a little longer than normal.

i am currently in the hunt for a:
~400 trans, and trans cross member "i haven't decided which one i wanna buy there are way to many choices"LOL.
~LS1 oil pan, windage tray, pick-up, and dip stick out of a 4th gen F-body
~LS1 accessories and brackets off a 4th gen F-body
~torque arm that can be used with said cross member or i might just have to go on and do a short torque arm with its own cross member not sure which way to go yet.
~megasquirt im sure i will just have to get this from them.

i will place my order monday morning with hawks to get the umi motor mounts that use the stock k-member and solid motor bushings.

that is where im and this site has a ton of info "that is the reason i joined". i have been reading up, but any info you pros can offer is great. especially when it comes to stuff like, stay away from "X" cross member and "Y" cross member is the way to go kind of thing. and if anyone has a lead on some of the parts i listed please let me know.

i stripped the motor down today so its just heads and block so doing the fitting would be a little easier, but i didnt get any pictures.

i look forward to hearing all your suggestions, and getting this thing running

Nice little combo

Your going to have a hella time routing enough exhaust pipe dia past that trans without tunnel mods. What are your goals for the car?

im planning on going out the pass front fends with the exhaust, im not even going to attempt to run it full length.

as of now my goals are lows 10's, i would like to brake into the 9's which i think is very doable once i get it all sorted out.

ya it should be very do able. im just being realistic right now. once i get all my tune and suspension finished ill try to really push the combo and see what it will do.

as for cam, im undecided. im leaning more and more to a custom cam ground by PCM for less "Alvin @ PCM has done a lot of work for me in the past and is great to work with, and crazy smart, heck he is the one that helped me build my TBSS to where its at which is now the fastest N/A TBSS in the country right now". or Brian Tooley
