Lt1 swap in progress have need advice

The junkyard lt1 is coming along well but I have this idea and wanted to throw it out to see some responses. I'm trying to mount the alternator low (on an fbody bracket) in order to attempt to use the stock ac compressor. Why? Because the compressor and lines are new and fresh serviced. Also would like to bypass the crossmember replacement/modification. But was wondering about possible clearance issues. The car is in paint and I can't mock it up also can't mock the ac compressor up top the mount. I have seen it done. But just my opinion the alternator sticks out pretty far.

Looks like it would hit the pass frame rail

Best fit would be to make your own accy bracket, its not hard or expensive

Re: Lt1 swap in progress have need advice

Ill look at doing that and I guess I could always use the third gen alternator it's so much smaller.

And puts out less. If your car is fine with that, then go for it

Personally, Id build custom accessory plates rather than re-engineer an existing bracket

The LT1 alt is very big. May have more luck with a smaller style CS130 alt, smaller LT1 alt (L99) alt, or other smaller alt. Here is a link just to throw some ideas out there:
