5.3 swap in my 91 camaro
5.3 swap in my 91 camaro
I'm putting a 5.3 in my 91. I have a set of 243 heads, stock 5.3 and was wondering what would be the best cam to stick in this? I'm wanting a good bumpyed cam for daily driver.

"Bumpity cam" and "daily driver" don't belong in the same sentence (IMHO).
A factory LS6 cam will bump up power nicely. Since it was made for a 5.7, it'll be a little wilder in a 5.3. They are available used for decent prices, keep your eyes open and you'll find a deal. I have one in my 5.7, and at 600 RPMs, it idles with authority.
If you really, really want to sacrifice driveability and economy for the bumpitiness, then the Comp Thumpr cams are made for exactly that purpose.
(FWIW, the 5.3 in my '08 Grand Prix, which happens to have 243 heads, idles so smoothly at 500 RPMs you wonder if it's running. But, those 305 horses move that car plenty well in daily driving.)

Re: 5.3 swap in my 91 camaro
A good daily cam with a bump in power Id look into the 220r from tsp, should have a slight lope to it aswell on a 114lsa in a 5.3. If you want a lil wilder/nastier cam and sacrifice as mentioned above..cams in the 224 range with a 112lsa will bring in torque band sooner, choppy idle and make good power, will need a tune and hardened pushrods. It would be good amount of fun for a street car to blast around with.
Is the car going to be auto or stick?

keep in mind it would be in your best interest to get a good stall if you want to use as much of the power from the motor to the ground or it will just feel lazy with the auto.
