LT1 water pump
Ok fellas, I'm not sure if this topic belongs here or in the cooling section. Since it pertains to the LT1, I decided to post here.
I am slowly buying parts for my LT1 rebuild and would like to know what your thoughts are on the Bosch water pump. Should I just stick with the AC Delco? The motor is going to have a slightly modded build...nothing too crazy.
Your insight and feedback is appreciated!!

Re: LT1 water pump
If you really want to upgrade, id get an Electric Water Pump(EWP).

Re: LT1 water pump
I upgraded my LT1 in my Vette to a Meziere HD electric coolant pump several years ago. Why did I do this? Here you go: 1) it stops or eliminates the possibility of a weep hole leak onto the opti-spark distributer. 2) Eliminates the possibility of an oil leak from the timing cover seal that the water pump shaft comes out of. 3) In traffic, you have much more coolant flow than the RPM related flow of the OEM pump delivers at idle, much better for A/C operations. 4) Frees up some horsepower, maybe 10-12 hp. 5) the manufacturer says it will last a minimum of 2500 hours, do the math, that;s much longer than an OEM pump will last. 6) If you have to replace it, it only takes about 30 minutes. 7) At the track, I have it set up so I can turn it on with the engine off to cool the engine between runs. 8) It does away with the problem of burping the system when changing the coolant. Some guys say that they don't trust the idea of an electric pump, well we made the swap from a fan belt driven fan to electric ones and we all know how much better they are. I'm doing a swap putting a LT1 in my son's 83 Camaro. It will have an electric coolant pump. I hope this helps out. To answer your original question, I'd go with the AC Delco.
