Estimated HP roughly?
Estimated HP roughly?
I was wondering if anyone can really estimate my power range? I know there is a ton of variables to get a true close estimate, but maybe someone on here has run a similar set up.
I am runnin an LS3 with an aggressive cam (custom grind, will get exact specs soon) , I think it's got mid .600's of lift tho (.640-.660 area). Not sure on duration exactly. Valve springs are also done with double beehives I believe (again, will have to confirm with my engine builder), aggressive idle tho.
1 3/4 primary headers, 3" y-pipe, 3" SLP loudmouth exhaust
GMPP wiring harness/ECM (still need it custom tuned by someone for most hp/Tq possible)
Stock Ls3 intake from vette, stock 90mm throttle body. 4" Cold Air Intake piping with big filter.
Might go with Underdrive Pulleys, not sure yet. Are they worth it entirely?
LS7 clutch and flywheel, ls1 T56 (low mileage), ls1 aluminum driveshaft, ls1 rear diff with limited slip and 3:42 gearing. 18" C6 Z06 wheels with 245/40/18 tires.
Also, while I'm asking, how much lighter is this engine/trans combo compared to a iron 355 with cast vortex heads that's carb'd. No AC on either engine.
Thanks in advance guys.
Just wanting to get a rough estimate until I can get it dyno'd somewhere.

I wouldnt be surprised if it hits north 425rwhp..465 on the high side depending on head work.Should be a nice setup street/strip
Re: Estimated HP roughly?
I'm not out to race my car or bag drive it so I won't be dumpin the clutch outta the hole. I wanna try and make this diff, driveshaft and clutch last for a few years until I build the engine at least.
425rwhp? I thought the newer camaro/vettes had 425rwhp from factory with these engines?
What's it take to hit closer to the 500rwhp mark without some spray or FI?

Re: Estimated HP roughly?
Newer LS3 camaro and vettes are "rated" at 426 hp at the crank for the camaro, and 430 hp at the crank for the LS3 vette. So about 370 rwhp through a 6 speed, roughly obviously. Knowing the exact specs of your cam would help, along with other mods such as work to the cylinder heads would be helpful. An ls3 with cnc ported heads, a cam that works well with the heads in the 230's duration range, and free flowing exhaust, not sure if a 3" single is optimal but I'm sure it's been done, and obviously a great tune could get you in the neighborhood of 500 rwhp with UD pulleys, the 6 speed, and light weight 10 bolt rear end. However, I'm not sure about cams for ls3 heads, they can be a little sensitive and often times guys make better power with cams that have a little less lift. So i have read, don't quote me on that.

you should knock down 425+ at the wheels with a good tuner. too much cam will make the car lazy down low, but you'll have brutal top end power.

He should be well north of 425. Mines a mild combo compared to his and I'm there already with an automatic.
