Need help, Engine swap, LS1 into a 92 camaro

Hi, I need help, Im goin to make an engine swap, but I have a doubt, how do I know if the ECM is from a Z28, does the ecm have a number or something, I also got the engine and trans for only 800 dlls, it only have about 32000 miles, I know that I need to change the motor mounts, and the trans support, but the doubt is about the ecm, thanks for you help.

If the LS is the same as a LT1 engine then all cars in a given year got the same part # PCM ;
http://chevythunder.com/LS1%20compon...Identification

It was the factory calibration (tune ) inside a PCM that determined what car it was intended for ; so you can get any tune you wish flashed ( loaded ) onto a LSX PCM

You'll find the ID on the PCM sticker under service number. If its the 98 version, I highly recommend buying a 99-04 PCM and repinning the harness to match

the 99 and newer pcms have better processors, basically, it's a faster/updated chip

Re: Need help, Engine swap, LS1 into a 92 camaro

I will give you ONE idea of why it is better. After I finished my swap we went for a drive to tune it. My tuner would start with a basic tune to get close and then we take off. We would get a few miles down the road and notice some things that needed to be modified. I would have to pull over and shut the car off, turn the key on and sit there for 45-50 seconds to flash the computer. Then shut the key off and then start again with the drive. Then needed to change more info so here we go again with the pulling over ,shutting it off and waiting for the flash. Pain in the butt! My tuner told me that the 99-up computers can be flashed on the fly! Hence, not all the starting and stopping. He also said that if I were ever going to run a turbo or supercharger that I would need the newer computer to be able to handle it. the newer computer has and uses much more data. Therefore can be manipulated or tuned if you will better because there is more info to play with. kinda like the difference between a 1985 Apple 2E vs A new Mac book pro... No comparison.
