92 RS 3.1L to a 5.7L LT1

hey guys I'm new to this forum and i was hoping some of you guys can help me, I have a 1992 Camaro RS with the 3.1L V6 and BW T5 tranny, my engine recently took a huge dump hahahahaha, anyways, i purchase a LT1 out of a 94 z28, harness and ecu.... problem was the t56 was destroyed...i already figure out the wiring problems so far, I think, but in my attempt to use my T5 i notice my input shaft is different, the clutch plate is bigger, I already bought a V8 bell housing my question is, what do i do about the input shaft? any help relataded to the swap is much appreciated

You can use a clutch disk for the 4.3 S10 application. It will have the proper splines for the input shaft, and mostly match the 3rd gen V8 pressure plate.

But, you'd better not drive this thing any harder than you drove the V6. The input shaft is smaller, and the 1st gear a higher ratio - smaller shaft means weaker, higher ratio means more stress on the case.

I've just about exhausted my complete encyclopedia of T5 knowledge, but as I understand, the 'Stang T5 doesn't sit right in a 3rd gen. But, the Camaro one should bolt in.

so anybody has done the harness conversion?
i should say combine the c100 bulkhead connector from the 3rd gen with the 94 lt1 harness?

Re: 92 RS 3.1L to a 5.7L LT1

five7kid is right about the Camaro T5 will bolt right in, but the housing on the mustang is different than the Camaro. I'm not exactly sure on how they are different, if I remember correctly the tailhousing is what makes it not a direct bolt on for our cars. I'm pretty sure that the LT1 has more power than what the T5 is rated for so if you're looking to buy a different trans. I would look into a T56. Yes it costs a considerable amount more, but you will actually be able to have fun with the car and not worrying about blowing the trans.
