How much for the swap itself, not motor?
Ok guys, I'm trying to get a good idea on how much I am going to spend and how much room I have for upgrades.
Say if I had just an LSX motor with Fbody accesories, oil pan and intake sitting in the garage. How much do all the other swap parts needed add up to?
I have came up with $1,500 on swap parts and odds and ends. I was very generous when adding things up, so I feel as if it could be a bit less. Is $1,500 a reasonable number?
I have a list of most parts needed, however I just want to make sure I am in the ballpark as far as price goes.
five7kid gave me great info in another thread. So, five7kid , would you say this number is reasonable?
Thanks for any input. For you lsx thirdgen guys, any expense numbers about anything lsx in your swap are greatly appreciated!

If you have the engine in fbody dress (intake, FEAD, pan etc) then $1500 is plenty for a stockish swap. Need trans, fuel system and exhaust still. Don't forget the misc stuff at the end like hoses and fluids. Mods are what make swaps expensive

Absolutely agree with the comment that mods is what makes the swap pricey. When I did my figuring, my swap minus the dropout could have been finished and on the street for in the 1500-2000 range. Replacing the clutch and adding go-fast goodies multiplied that by at least 3.

$1500 should do it if you had a complete engine and were using an auto trans.
I have over 10g into my swap now but I started with an expensive engine and went new everthing.
All depends on deals or the price shopping you do and the little things at the end.
