LQ4 1982 Z28 Swap

Well ive been searching for engines for awhile now, contemplating on what motor i wanna slap in my 82 Z. i have been wanted a ls motor since my uncle got his 02 z28..So I had some money saved up an i got on Craigslist searching and i ran across this 1999 lq4 had 80k on it truck was totaled. guy was asking 800$ for the motor wiring harness cpu and everything inside that engine bay. ended up getting him down to 700$. i dont think i did too bad ive heard of people getting them for 3 and 400$ but i haven seen any around here will low miles for that, anyway i got it home yesterday looks good pulled plugs and a valve cover rocker arms are tight clean didnt haven any sludge , crank is tight. plan on pulling the pan after i get another engine stand this coming week. my plan is to keep its mostly stock im wanting to do a intake, throttle body, injectors and fuel rails (depending on which intake i get), timing chain, oil pump, plugs, and wires as far as mods nothing serious. Ive been doing some research on the truck engines i know the intakes gotta go, but what intake should i use i was thinking a ls1/6 intake but i will need ls1/6 injectors and fuel rails right? or i could go with a ls2 but i will need the correct throttle body and fuel rails? i am gonna keep my 700r4 in the car when i pull the old 350 i know the older lq4s have the longer crank so wha flexpate an converter will i need?not sure on converter. im wanting to get a stall i was thinking a 2800k this will be my weekend warrior but i want good drive ability. This build wont be done til the middle or end of summer i will be buying parts each week as i go. Most parts will be coming from hawks. this is a starting point of what i will need i know im forgetting a bunch of little things that will nickel and dime me, but what major things will i need? ill be uploading pics of my motor and build as i progress.

Parts list-
-Fbody pan pickup windage tray
-F body clamshells, and motor mounts
-LTs or Fbody manifolds
-LS1/2/6 Intake
-walbro 255 fuel pump
-ls6 timing chain
-Melling M295 oil pump
-custom fab alt bracket
-ls1 fuel line kit

99-00 lq4's has iron heads and the extended crank flange. The crank severely limits your transmission options. What trans were you planning?

Re: LQ4 1982 Z28 Swap

The long flanged 6.0 crank limits you to the older transmissions: TH350, TH400, 700R4, ect.

The T56 and 4L60E is not useable behind this crank.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

You should be able to use an LT1 T56, or any pre-LS auto tranny (including LT1 4L60E).

You could also use an LS 4L60E if you had a custom torque converter made for it.
