Picked up a lt1/4l60e today. Need advice.

Hello guys it's been a while since I did Any research. I've just picked up a lt-1/4l60e today, its a complete engine harness and everything. So far I've tooken the exhaust manifolds off and smog pump. What route so I go? I want to paint the block and in the process make sure all internals are good. Hopefully I'll have this engine in my 92 camaro soon enough, just need a little advice on how to tear down this engine. There's 60k miles on this engine it's from a 96 camaro. Thanks for any help!

Remove Water pump then the Opti, then the timing cover and set, then treat it like a regular SBC.

Congratulations, I too have just started taking apart my LT1 . Bag and label EVERYTHING . Be careful and make sure the Optispark does not get wet. Buy a detail brush set from Harbor freight, the set is like $2.00, comes with six brushes, also use simple green or purple power to clean the engine. If you use purple power wear gloves.

Thanks for your response. I have all my tools to clean and a huge jug of simple green. Would it be necessary to tear the engine down to the block for inspection, or is there a better way to do this?

Depends upon what level of inspection you think you need. If you saw it running, know the oil pressure, and did a compression check, not much teardown is required.
